ขิมทองเป็นนักกายภาพบำบัดซึ่งจบการศึกษาใหม่ๆ ถูกคุณลุงบำรุงขอร้องให้ไปดูแลสายหยุดที่ไร่แห่งหนึ่งซึ่งกำลังป่วยเป็นอัมพาต รุจลูกชายของสายหยุดมีคติไม่ดีต่อขิม เพราะฝังใจว่าลุงบำรุงเป็นคนฆ่าพ่อของเขา และคิดว่าขิมทองต้องร่วมมือกับลุงของเธอมีแผนร้ายต่อเขาแน่นอน ขิมทองรู้ความจริงว่าลุงของเธอไม่ได้เป็นคนทำ จึงปรับความเข้าใจกับรุจ พร้อมๆกับอาการของสายหยุดก็ดีขึ้น ทั้งสองจึงเข้าใจกันมากขึ้น รุจและขิมทองโดนพ่อเลี้ยงไร่ข้างๆซึ่งขัดใจกันเรื่องธุรกิจส่งคนมาทำร้าย ขิมทองไม่สบายและรุจดูแลเธอเป็นอย่างดี ลุงบำรุงมาเยี่ยมพร้อมกับจะพาขิมทองกลับเพราะสายหยุดเดินได้แล้ว รุจจัดงานเลี้ยงส่งให้ เขารู้สึกเสียดายขิมทองก็เมื่อหล่อนจะจากไป ขิมทองก็เช่นเดียวกัน รุจจึงตามเข็มทองไปเพื่อพาหัวใจเขากลับคืนมา
